Meeko's session
Some photo sessions leave an unforgettable mark on my heart, and Meeko’s was certainly one of them.
At 15 years old, this spirited Shih Tzu proved that age is just a number. On a gorgeous November afternoon, we gathered at Jessup’s Falls Conservation Area in Plantagenet to capture her energy, personality, and the love she shares with her family. The session was a perfect blend of beautiful scenery, emotional moments, and Meeko’s undeniable charm.
A Chance Encounter at the Market
I first met Meeko’s owners, Jessica and Patrick, at the end of October during my first market event in Orleans. They were drawn to my booth, and we connected immediately as they shared their desire to capture special memories with their beloved senior dog. They decided to take advantage of the 15% off promotion I was offering during the event (a little reminder that I always have exclusive deals at markets and events—so don’t miss out!).
Jessica and Patrick were eager to book the closest available date for their session. As luck would have it, I had an opening just two weeks later, and we finalized their booking for what turned out to be a stunning autumn afternoon.
Meeko: A Senior Dog Full of Life
Despite her age, Meeko’s energy and playfulness were truly heartwarming. Watching her bounce around the park, you would never guess she was 15 years old. The only subtle sign of her years was a minor neurological condition that made it difficult for her to stay still for long. For me, this was less of a challenge and more of an opportunity to capture her lively spirit and unique personality.
Throughout the session, I worked patiently with Meeko, using creative techniques to adapt to her movements. The result? A collection of photos that perfectly encapsulate her joyful nature and the deep bond she shares with Jessica and Patrick.
A Picture-Perfect Setting
Jessup’s Falls Conservation Area offered a breathtaking backdrop for the session. The golden autumn light filtering through the trees and the vibrant orange leaves carpeting the ground created a magical, almost cinematic atmosphere. This natural beauty set the tone for the warm and emotional images I envisioned, and every photo came to life with the colors and textures of fall.
The Importance of Capturing the Moment
This session with Meeko was a poignant reminder of why I love pet photography. Our pets are with us for such a short time, yet they fill our lives with an immeasurable amount of love and joy. Being able to create lasting memories for families like Jessica and Patrick is a privilege I cherish deeply.
