Sadie & Hope's session
There are few things as delightful as photographing puppies, and Sadie and Hope’s session was no exception! These two adorable Labrador Retrievers, 11 and 8 months old, were full of energy and charm, making for a memorable and lively afternoon at Jessup’s Falls Conservation Area in Plantagenet. The golden November light and vibrant fall foliage provided the perfect backdrop for capturing their playful personalities.
I first met Joanne, Sadie and Hope’s owner, at my market booth in Orleans at the end of October. Drawn to my work, Joanne decided to take advantage of the 15% off promotion I was offering during the event (a little reminder that I often have exclusive deals during markets—don’t miss them!). She was eager to book a session soon and we quickly scheduled it for mid-November.
The Session: High Energy and Big Smiles
Sadie and Hope’s session was the perfect mix of adorable chaos and heartwarming moments. Knowing that puppies have endless energy, Joanne prepared by taking them to the park for an hour before our shoot. Even so, the two Labs still had plenty of enthusiasm to share during their photoshoot!
Throughout the session, we focused on capturing a variety of shots: playful duo portraits, candid shots and individual close-ups that highlighted their unique personalities. While Sadie was a bit more poised, Hope’s playful spirit kept us all laughing. Their dynamic made every moment unpredictable and fun, and I loved working to capture their special bond.
Joanne’s main goal was to have high-quality photos to print and display on her gallery wall. Knowing how much these images would mean to her, I approached each shot with care, ensuring every detail was just right. I can’t wait to see how the final prints will look as part of her home decor.
A Stunning Autumn Backdrop
Jessup’s Falls Conservation Area provided a stunning setting for Sadie and Hope’s session. The warm afternoon light streaming through the trees, combined with the vibrant orange and gold leaves carpeting the ground, created a magical autumn atmosphere. This natural beauty not only complemented the Labs’ coats but also added a rich and timeless quality to the photos.
